Icebreakers

If you want to learn about quick and fun ways to get to know your students, then this section is perfect for you. Below are some quick ice breakers.

Creative Name Tags

Creative name tagGive students ten minutes to create their own creative name tags that they could place on their desks. Students will write their names in a large format and then they could decorate in by listing their hobbies, drawing a picture, making a self profile or doing something else.

A truth and  a Lie

Have the students take five minutes to write a truth and a lie about themselves. As you read through the attendance sheet, ask each student to tell you their truth and lie, then try to guess which one is the truth. You could ask for class for help.

Would You Rather

As you read the attendance sheet, have each student answer a different,”Would you rather question”.

(e.g. Would you rather go to the school in the summer and have the rest of the year off or go to school during the rest of the year and have summers off?)

These are fun and non-threatnening ways to have students tell you something about themselves. Students will no longer  have a worry about what they are going to say when their name comes up.
