As a growing group of dedicated young teachers, our Substitute Teacher Toolkit was designed
with a specific goal in mind: to aid substitute teachers everywhere achieve their full potential.
Substitute teachers take a large part in the school life of most students, but substitute teachers are too often seen as babysitters rather than instructors. To dispel that stigma, our Toolkit serves as guide for substitute teachers to engage in complete educational lessons with any classroom you may find yourself in!

Services

Our Toolkit offers a wide variety of services such as:

  • Full access to a large selection of stand-alone lesson plans and activities for all grade
    levels in all subjects.
  • Fast and easy communication with other teachers.
  • Classroom management action plans.
  • Quick assessments and icebreakers
  • Motivational tools
  • And, lots of tips to make your classes fun, engaging, and educational for everyone!

Professionalism

Substitute teachers are as dedicated and qualified as any full-time teacher and we believe all substitute teachers must maintain a level of professionalism both in and out of the classroom. Substitute teachers face unique challenges and must be prepared for a variety of circumstances they may face on the job.

Substitute teacher expectations include:

  • Being punctual.
  • Learning and respecting school rules (for example, knowing the dress code protocol).
  • Being prepared to teach regardless of age group, subject matter, and class size.
  • Having knowledge of how to use technology in the classroom (example: SMARTboards).
  • Having materials prepared ahead of time.
  • Following any instructions or protocol routines established by the homeroom teacher.
  • Knowing and following the teacher’s supervision schedule.
  • Always be prepared for any type of emergency (ex: Fire alarms or medical emergencies).
